Calgary Stampede is one of the prestigious rodeo events and attracts millions of visitors every year. The event often referred to as “The Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth” is the dream of every rodeo. Every year rodeo enthusiasts participate and display the finest skills to claim the title. This year Jared Parsonage also entered the event with the same goal and emerged successful.

The Canadian bull rider threw the weight off his shoulders and won the acclaimed title this year. It was not an easy task but he fought against tough competition with will and patience.

Jared Parsonage Holds The Greatest Show on Earth

The Maple Creek bull rider started the competition with the perfect performance. He qualified for the semi-finals after finishing pool B in the first position after scoring 78.5 on Toothless Smile, 83.5 on Blue Magic, and 85 on Devils Advocate. In the semi-finals, he scored 88 on Red Rocker and finished in the second spot.  In the final Jared was the only competitor that stayed on the bull Wild Time for eight seconds and scored 89.

Worth over $228,000 the pro rodeo had made previous attempts in which he secured second position in 2019 and third position in 2022. This year the title was his. Speaking after winning the title Parsonage said, “It’s exciting. It’s something, it’s something every rodeo cowboy in Canada wants to win, a Calgary Stampede title. So when I knew I finally got it done it was pretty exciting for sure”.

This year the format of the competition was changed. The 10 riders were divided into three pools with the top four position holders from each pool qualifying for the semis. From semis, the top four position holders qualify for the finals. The Canadian spoke about his competitive mentality saying you have to be consistent in bull riding. He added, “If I could do that I’d give myself a chance come Sunday and that’s kind of how it worked out.” The bull rider won a bronze statue and a $50,000 cheque leading his week’s total earnings to $68,000.

The pro rodeo’s incredible journey to fulfill his passions

Jared Parsonage resident of Maple Creek, Saskatchewan, Canada entered Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association in 2013. Since then he has been competing at pro rodeo events gradually moving up in the spot.  He started in 104th position in 2014 and finished in 13th position in 2022 earning $122,314. JParsonage has one National Finals Rodeo Qualifier which happened last year and he earned $10,000. He is also a three-time Canadian Champion in bull riding.

Jared Parsonage’s efforts and never die spirit brought him success this year. His victory is a lesson in never losing hope and trying until the goal is achieved.
