Noah Lyles had the perfect 2023 race season. In the 2023 World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Lyles successfully defended his world title crown for a third consecutive year. He was miles ahead of the competition. He followed his 200m domination by helping the U.S. men’s 4x100m relay team to a world championship gold as their anchor runner. In the same competition, Lyles also became the new 100m world champion and the fastest man in the world for this year in the 100m discipline.

He continued his winning spree at the 2023 Zurich Diamond League and shortly posted an update on social media that suggests that his 2023 season is done for now. However, more recently, Lyles posted another update that suggested he might just give the 100m event one more shot, before concluding his 2023 racing season.

Lately, Noah Lyles has been focusing more on the 200m discipline and it clearly shows in his performances. Recently in Budapest, Lyles won the 200m with an emphatic win in 19.51 seconds, defeating his teammate Erriyon Knighton, who secured silver with 19.75. Lyles then went to Zurich, where he once again won the 200m against Knighton in 19.80 seconds. When it came to the 100m in Budapest, Lyles became the new world champion in the discipline as he set the fastest time of the year in 100m with 9.83 seconds. After the conclusion of the Zurich Diamond League, Noah took to platform X and tweeted a goodbye to his amazing 2023 season. However, he soon posted another update on X.

Just a day before saying goodbye to his 2023 season, Lyles tweeted, “You know what… I might have another 100m in me for the year.” This could mean that if Lyles decides to participate in the Diamond League finals in Eugene later this month, Americans may see the track star win again on U.S. soil. His last 100m win earned him a personal best time but was a closely fought-off race against Botswana’s Letsile Tebogo and Great Britain’s Zharnel Huges. They finished 2nd and 3rd respectively with a photo finish time of 9.88 seconds. Now, with Lyles hinting at running to the 100m once more, fans are excited. They highlighted their enthusiasm in the comment section.

However, even if the track star decides to opt for rest and recovery, his fans will still understand. After all, Lyles will be looking to get enough training and rest before next year’s Paris Olympics.
