There are many equestrian events held every year around the world. But, the events are valued by their affiliation and the level of equestrian athletes participating in them. Chard Equestrian is an event that within ten years got FEI status. Many notable athletes participated in it this year, but one name was leading them, Scott Brash.

The Olympian equestrian was participating in the event for the first time. Despite having fierce competition, Scott managed to do the unbelievable. The track was designed by Ben Townley and contained  1.45m 13-fence. But, the world-class track couldn’t deter him and he showed a world-class performance.

The more than 400 million worth of Scott Brash after a short home trip arrived at Chard Equestrian Centre in Somerset. This was his debut at the event, so was resolved to give his best. At the start of the race, Scott began his competition abroad with the nine-year-old mare Folie De Nantuel. With him, he took an early lead. But, his lead was canceled by his Irish rival, Shane Breen. Shane, who was on Haya, manage to take a narrow 0.18 second. Shane came to this competition dropping a level down where earlier he competed in 5* Longines Global Champions throughout the year.

Scott began his second attempt abroad Vittoria. He started with pace and maintained through the phase. He quickly cut corners to a midway vertical and then rode towards the second-last double before making a daring attempt to take out a stride to the final vertical. His gamble paid off, and he won the race by 0.70 seconds.

Speaking after winning the event, the Olympic gold medalist said, “It’s my first visit to Chard, it’s a lovely venue and they really try hard to put on a good show; I enjoyed it and I’m delighted with how both horses jumped“. The owner of the Chard Equestrian Jane Gregory was also happy by the participation of Scott at the event. He said, “A few years ago, I was very excited to have some of the 2012 London Olympic fences at Chard.  How humbled I am this year to have Olympian Scott Brash competing“. The Olympian has collected one more medal under his belt in his illustrious career.

Scott started riding at an early age. He began by riding ponies and competing at the weekends. His first success came when he participated in the FEI World Equestrian Games in 2010. Since then, he never looked back. He went on to represent his country at championships, Nations Cups, and Olympics. During his glittering career had many achievements. First and foremost was winning the team gold medal at the London Olympics in 2012.

Next year he won team gold and an individual bronze medal at European Championships. In 2015, he won the Rolex Grand Slam of Show Jumping. He won team bronze at European Championship in 2019. Last year he won a team bronze medal at World Championships in Herning, Denmark.

Scott Brash has proved his skill and talent once again and given the Chard, much required attention by winning it.
