Getting your wisdom teeth can be a painful affair. The very nature of how a wisdom tooth grows causes pain and discomfort. And that’s exactly what Simone Biles had to deal with in 2017 when she got her wisdom teeth removed less than a year after rising to stardom.

In July 2017, Simone and Adria Biles made the fateful trip to the dentist’s office. “Are you ready, lil nug? Getting her wisdom teeth out,” Adria Biles posted on social media while sitting in the waiting room with her sister. The Instagram account Planet of Gymnastics posted the video of the Olympian regaining consciousness in the dentist’s chair while still fighting the effects of the anesthesia. However, what Simone Biles did while still delirious cracked up Adria Biles.

The eleven-time Olympic medalist’s sister couldn’t control her laughter as Biles tried to drive an imaginary car while lying down in the chair. “She rly said BEEP BEEP,” Planet of Gymnastics captioned the post. The fans couldn’t help but post laughing emoticons in the comments. However, what was truly interesting about the video was that Biles never hid it.

“Wisdom teeth – gone. Atleast I get to be home & catch up on some shows. PS: I have a funny video for y’all from this!!!” the defending world champion ‘tweeted’ on X (then Twitter). Shortly after giving a fair warning to her fans, Simone Biles posted the video. “Uhm here it is, I honestly have no words! Enjoy!!!!! Hope it makes you laugh!!!!” wrote the Olympic champion.

The video went viral back then, and judging by the reaction of the Planet of Gymnastics followers, it has preserved its hilarity all these years later. However, as fans looked back on the amusing video from 2017, the gymnastics icon looked back at one of the most successful years in her career.

2024 was the year of the U.S. gymnastics icon’s redemption. The Olympic champion conquered the ghost of Tokyo 2020 in Paris, winning not one but three gold medals. The 30-time world championship medalist even reclaimed her Olympic all-around champion crown. However, that was only the beginning for Biles, as she headlined the grander second edition of the Gold Over America Tour.

The champion gymnast ended the year as the highest-paid gymnast in the world, and as surprising as it may sound, her fame and game was also honored with 2 Critics’ Choice Awards for Simone Biles Rising Part 2. So the 27-year-old celebrated 2024 and ushered in the new year with not one but three posts on Instagram. The Olympic champion expressed her gratitude toward coach Cecile Landi and Team USA physician Marcia Faustin.

“Before the year ends, I wanna highlight these 2 ladies,. Thanks for keeping me sane this year and making sure I never gave up on my dreams. Much love,” the eleven-time Olympic medalist wrote in her tribute. The following story simply featured Biles lying on the floor, surrounded by her eleven medals. “Thank you, 2024,” the defending world champion wrote in the caption.

The third and final post was all about the people who made the past year special. “Here’s to 2025,” wrote Simone Biles as she shared the highlight reel for 2024.
