Monmouth Oaks, a grade three-horse race, is scheduled to start in the coming days. This year, ten fillies will compete in the $250,000 one-mile and a sixteenth race in the dirt. There are always some favorite contenders for any stakes. Similar is the case in this stake too.

The contenders for this race are the graded stakes winners. They are worth a whopping $631,088 and are expected to give tough competition. They are Promiseher America, Vegas Magic, and Occult. Last year, the race was won by Shahama, jockeyed by Jorge A Vargas Jr. All eyes are on this year’s race to see who manages to grab the podium.

Prominent horses lead the Monmouth Oaks

This year there are some prominent names who are major contenders for the 99th edition of the Monmouth Oaks at Monmouth Park Racetrack. Hoffman Thoroughbreds and Tom McCrocklin’s Promiseher America has arrived at the race after securing a 14th position at his last race. Trained by Raymond Handal, the three-year-old filly’s last race at Kentucky Oaks at Churchill Downs on the 5th of May. Promiseher America has won a graded stake at Gazelle Stakes graded 3  race at Aqueduct Racetrack this April. He won the race in 1.51.41 jockeyed by Jorge A. Vargas, Jr.

Omar Aldabbagh, Todd Cady, and Ty Leatherman’s Vegas Magic arrived at the race after finishing sixth in her last race. Trained by Doug O’Neill her last race was at the Great Lady M Stakes graded 2 race at Los Alamitos Race Course. Vegas Magic won a graded stake at the Sorrento Stakes graded 2 race at Del Mar Racetrack last year. Speaking on the filly the trainer for this race said, “She’s doing great. I talked to Doug about her when she first got here and found out as much as I could about her. She has been training very well“. Kelly J. Breen will train Vegas Magic for the Monmouth Magic. 

Alpha Delta Stables, LLC-owned Occult, arrived at the race after finishing third in her last race. Trained by Chad C. Brown, the filly’s last race was at Acorn Stakes graded 3 race at Belmont Park. She outran her odds 27-1 in that race. Prior to that, she had won at Busanda Stakes race at Aqueduct Racetrack this January. There are other contestants for the prestigious race who will put all their effort into winning the race.

Monmouth Oaks grade 3 horse race

Monmouth Oaks is a thoroughbred horse race that is held every year at Monmouth Park Racetrack in Oceanport, New Jersey. This race is a graded 3-stake race for three-year-old fillies. This racetrack is the second-oldest in the country after the Saratoga Race Course. The racetrack also offers a variety of amenities, including a grandstand, clubhouse, and picnic areas.  Monmouth Park is a popular destination for horse racing fans from all over the world.

This year, apart from the three major contenders, there are seven others. They are Ruthanne trained by Cathal A. Lynch, Atthecrossroads trained by Carlis A. David, Foggy Night trained by Robert E. Reid Jr., Miss New York trained by Jorge Delgado, another Chad C. Brown trained horse Shidabhuti, Seduction trained by Todd A. Pletcher, and Riding Pretty trained by Eddie Owens Jr.
