In a sky full of stars, a mother’s eye will still light up for her child alone. Such is the tale of a mother-son duo, who recently shared an ‘aww-worthy’ moment at the Kingston’s National Stadium. Kishane Thompson‘s mother beamed with pride as the 22-year-old emerged ‘star of the show’ with his 9.77 world lead 100m sprint. Not only did this timing secure him gold at the Jamaica National Championships, but also announced the emergence of a newest phenom in the sprinting world.
However, in what potentially was a career-defining victory for Thompson, the most ecstatic was his mother. Her son was now tied as the ninth fastest man in history! What could possibly be grander than this? But for a while, lets divert the attention from the man of the moment and have a look at the entire Thompson clan.

As documented by Sportsmax TV, the pillar of the house, aka Grace Allen is Kishane Thompson’s mother, who gave birth to the champion at Lionel Town Hospital. We now know where Thompson gets his athletic aptitude from. “I used to do high jump at school at Mitchell Town Primary. I think he got the genes from me,” Allen remarked. Moreover, she was quick to identify Thompson’s inclination, “He always loved to run, he always came first on sports day,” she said, recalling his achievements at Mitchell Town Basic School.
A bond so deep, Allen appears Thompson’s go-to person in his moments of joy. The moment he dashed past the finish line, it was established- Thompson had been the fastest this year. Yet, he ran to the warm up area outside, celebrating by embracing his mother. “Oh, I am so elated. I am so proud of my son. He deserves it,” she stated, smiling ear to ear. Now living a moment that she was admittedly looking forward to, Allen couldn’t have been prouder of her boy, who “is someone who really concentrates on what he is doing; he puts his all into it.”

However, Thompson’s victory comes in after he overcame a substantial low point in his life. Recently, in January, Thompson unfortunately lost his father. The demise of a parent, is a feeling that probably can never be penned into words. But, in just 5 months post this jolt, Thompson managed to hop back on track and pull off this marvel. Perhaps, the comfort of his mother and siblings would have eased the process a bit.
Know about Thompson’s siblings
Thompson’s odyssey from a small town to the Olympic village this year is something that his siblings would have perhaps witnessed up and close. In total, the Thompson trio consists of Kishane, his twin brother Kishawn, and they have a sister too. Moreover, they seem to share a close bond.

“My half. My Yang. I’m Ying; he’s Yang. If you guys know philosophy, you know Ying and Yang is balance,” Kishane recently told sports journalist Trishana McGowan, referring to his brother Kishawn. The sprinter admitted, “He has always been there for me.”
It looks clear that Thompson has always drawn in great support from his family. And this month, he probably needs it more than ever. Ahead of the 33rd Olympic Games, hopefully he can channel the strength and get himself an Olympic medal.
