Canadian bodybuilding icon and retired IFBB pro, Mike Van Wyck has always been forthright about gym etiquette and several other issues revolving around the sport of bodybuilding. In his pursuit of making the gym a staunch place for fitness fanatics, Wyck is once again back with valuable counsel to share with his fandom. This time, Wyck called out the fitness enthusiasts who add a hoard full of cinematography in their workout videos rather than showing the real scenario behind those training drills.

Two months ago, the fitness influencer pulled off the curtains from the actual picture of what working out in the gym looks like. Nonetheless, he also shared his unfeigned perspective on why adding cinematics and dramatic built-ups is irrelevant when it comes to workout videos.

On 18th February, Wyck took to his Instagram handle to share his outlook on adding irrelevant edits to the workout reels. In the video, the Canadian stated, “There’s a specific couple of people who are like really f**king laying it on thick in the fitness industry right now with like their hyper motivational f**king hyper intense training footage”. Expressing his rebuke, he added, “But like one, you’re not elite athletes. You know what I mean, their livelihood doesn’t depend on how f**king well you work out or like what intensity you have. You’re just doing it for you”.

Stop f**king acting like the most mundane exercise is the most f**king intense part of your day. It’s like we’re all here doing the same thing…but if I put music behind it and I do this cable row and I put some f**king cinematic sh*t on it, and they get like ‘Oh I’m following here to the machine. The grip, the light in the eyes, the sweat on the brow’”, conceded Wyck.

Interestingly, he also drew parallels between the actual workout routine and the one filled with edits and cinematography. He first added dramatic built-up music in the reel and then showed his fans behind the scene picture of actual training prompts. Captioning the post, Wyck penned, “Gorified mediocrity”. Likewise, the social media influencer and fitness icon, Joey Swoll, who also is deemed the CEO of gym positivity once called out the fitness fanatics and gym goers who record their training sessions without taking into consideration the privacy of their fellow gym mates.

Nowadays, recording workout sessions and posting them online became a trend. However, while doing so many remain oblivious to the fact that sharing videos online can breach the privacy of others. He further added, “if you can’t film responsibly if you can’t respect other people, you don’t belong filming at all that alone in the gym in the first place. You need to do better. Mind your own business”. Bodybuilding icons like Mike Van Wyck and Joey Swoll hold rather intriguing perspectives on maintaining a positive gym culture. Clearly, addressing these alcoves now became the need for the hour. What is your outlook on gym positivity? Give us your thoughts in the comment section below.
