Lorenzo Musetti of Italy came in the spotlight during the French Open 2021. He clinched the first two sets in his match against Novak Djokovic in the fourth. Unfortunately, he withdrew to play in the last set due to injury concerns. The Italian definitely looks as a promising tennis player.
Lorenzo Musetti in a post match interview, he confessed that he wanted the World No. 1, Novak Djokovic to win the US Open finals as well as calendar slam.

Lorenzo Musetti thought Novak Djokovic was immortal
Recently, Lorenzo Musetti lost in the fourth round of Astana Open at Nur-Sultan. After a thriller contest, the Italian lost against the Serbian Laslo Dere. In a post match interview, Musetti admitted he supported Novak Djokovic in the finals of US Open. The Italian applauded the kind of performance Djokovic showed throughout the year.
Lorenzo Musetti said,“I thought he was immortal and instead we saw that even the greatest champions are crushed by the pressure. I didn’t watch the whole game, I admit I slept. But I saw him very, very tense. I was sorry because I was encouraging him, he absolutely deserved to achieve this calendar Grand Slam even though Medvedev played an extraordinary tournament. Nole is a very special person.”
Lorenzo Musetti said Novak Djokovic deserved the calendar grand slam. The World No.1 had already triumphed over three grand slam in 2021 and was aiming for his fourth. Musetti also praised Daniil Medvedev as he played an outstanding tournament.However, Djokovic is very special person to the Italian.

The Italian also talked about the immense pressure Djokovic must have gone through. For someone who is aiming for a calendar grand slam as well as 21st grand slam title, it’s normal to panic. Though Musetti lost against Djokovic, he still considers him as his favorite.
US Open 2021 finals
Daniil Medvedev stunned the whole world after he defeated the 20-time grand slam champion in the finals of US Open 2021. Medvedev, who dropped only one set throughout the tournament went on to beat the World No. 1 in a straight sets victory. The Russian won his maiden grand slam at Flushing Meadows.
