Things have soured for American bobsledder Elana Meyers Taylor as she tested positive for Covid after arriving in Beijing for the Winter Olympics. Meyers is one of the Gold medal prospects for the bobsledding team.
She was part of the 2010 team which won Gold in the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. The athlete traveled to Beijing just this week, but upon arrival, she tested positive for the virus.

Now that the Olympics is just 2 days away, Meyers is hopeful that she tests negative in time for her event. Meyers is a 4-time Olympian and expected to bring home a Gold medal.
Meyers hopes to test negative in time for her 4th? Winter Olympics
This will be Elana Meyers’ 4th Olympic Games. Previously, she previously participated in the 2010, 2014, and 2018 Winter Olympic Games. She won an Olympic bronze medal as a brakewoman for Erin Pac at the 2010 Winter Games, then won silver medals at both the 2014 and 2018 Olympic Winter Games. Elana Meyers is also the overall World Champion.
This time, after newly becoming a mother, Meyers is hoping to stand on the podium once again. However, when she arrived in Beijing, she tested positive for Covid and was then sent to isolation.
Meyers has however revealed that she doesn’t have any symptoms of the virus, and is undergoing complete isolation.

“After arriving to Beijing, on January 29 I tested positive for Covid-19. I am asymptomatic and currently at an isolation hotel, and yes I am completely isolated,” posted Meyers on her Instagram.
The bobsledding events will start off on February 13. This is a good thing for Meyers because she will get almost a 2-week period to recover from the illness.
However, Meyers will have to produce two back-to-back negative reports in order for her to participate in the Games. This Winter game, Meyers will be a pilot. She will participate in women?s bobsled and the Olympic debut of women?s mono bob. Meyers’ husband Nic Taylor has been named as an alternate bobsledder for Team USA.

Meyers also wrote about how getting to the Olympics is never easy. Moreover, after giving birth, it has been all the more challenging for her. But she is grateful that she has made it to her 4th Olympics.

“Getting to the Olympics is never easy, and this time, as a new mom, it has been the most challenging, but also, incredibly rewarding, to be able to show that it can still be done,” wrote Meyers.
She is thankful to all those who have supported her in this journey.
