Jackson has been training hard to dazzle at the Athletics World Championships scheduled for next month. The impact of the training is evident in her recent performances, where she has consistently dominated the competition. Jackson had recently mentioned in an interview with the Jamaica Observer that “One of my goals this year is to make it at the 100m”. She has certainly achieved her goal, as she not only broke the record but won the race, competing against the reigning 100m champion Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce. The news of Jackson posting two world leads was announced in a tweet with the caption, “Shericka Jackson doesn’t give athletes a chance to hold a W.L. for more than a few minutes.”

This statement was about Jackson snatching away the world’s best time records from Gabbi Thomas and Sha’carri Richardson. Gabbi had posted 21.86 seconds in the women’s 200m at the U.S. athletics championships, while Sha’carri Richardson won the title of the fastest woman in the 100m dash. The Jamaican sprinter surpassed U.S. athletes and set world leads in the two events. With these two latest achievements, Jackson has climbed up the ranks on the all-time list.

Shericka Jackson Becomes World’s Fifth Fastest Woman

American sprinter Sha’Carri Richardson had set the record in the 100m dash by finishing at 10.71. Shericka broke the record by ending her 100m sprint at 0.6 seconds less than Richardson. With this world-leading time, she occupied the fifth spot on the all-time list of fastest women. She is tied with America’s Marion Jones, but that might change soon. Jackson has identified her weaknesses and is working to eliminate them.
