The 2009 US Open champion Juan Martin del Potro is all set to for a US Open final clash against Novak Djokovic who will be aiming for his 14th Grand Slam title.
Del Potro faced the defending champion and world number one Rafael Nadal in the semi-final, who quit with a knee injury, after being 2 sets down 6-7 2-6.
On the other hand, Djokovic outclassed Japan’s Kei Nishikori 6-3 6-4 6-2 and thrashed hopes of history to be made for Japan to have both the men’s and women’s finalist to be from the country for the first time.
Djokovic and del Potro will now meet for the 19th time in their career with Djokovic leading by 14. Djokovic has won in their last three meetings. In 2016 Olympics the Argentine had denied Djokovic of his chance at a medal.
