In one of his recent interviews, Robin van Persie has divulged that Manchester United are going to spend around £200m this summer.

The Holland captain’s statement said:

“United spent £200m on players last year and they are going to spend another £200m this summer so we will have a team that can compete for the title.” (Goal.com)

United had spent a whopping £150m last summer, to acquire the services of Angel Di Maria, Rademal Falcao, Luke Shaw, Ander Herrera, Daley Blind and Marcos Rojo. If Robin van Persie’s proclamation is true, then United will reach an awe-inspiring spending spree of around £350m, just inside a year. The glimpses of such a huge expenditure has already been seen with the arrival of Memphis Depay (£22.3m) and numerous players like Gareth Bale, Harry Kane, Nicolas Otamendi and Felipe Anderson linked with the United outfit.

The 32 year old United striker’s own future is at risk because of his poor performance in this season (10 goals in 29 appearances). When asked about his future, Robin van Persie said:

“It is my ambition to play as many games as possible next season. I feel fitter than ever. And I know that the more games I play, the more it will help me prepare for the European Championships next summer. I will take everything into consideration when I decide on my future and I know I have to be realistic about the situation.”  (Goal.com)
