Greek tennis player Stefanos Tsitsipas has been one of the exceptional players on the men’s tour this season. The 23-year-old grabbed the first ATP Masters trophy of his career and reached his highest ranking, at World No. 3 in 2021. Although he had to withdraw from the year-end tournaments due to an elbow injury, 2021 was largely good for Stefanos.

Recently, a picture of Stefanos Tsitsipas during the final of the French Open 2021 was included in Time’s Top 100 Photos of 2021. It was a splendid click, and his coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, complimented the shot on Twitter. The Frenchman is also the coach of WTA legend Serena Williams and the youngster, Coco Gauff.

Stefanos Tsitsipas’ movement has been captured to perfection 

The picture featured in Time’s list is truly spectacular. It has perfectly captured Tsitsipas moving towards the net and hitting a drop volley on the backhand side. 

Speaking more about the match, Tsitsipas took on Novak Djokovic in the final at Roland Garros. After claiming the first couple of sets, the youngster looked in pole position for the trophy. However, the Serbian ace found a way back into the match and ended up winning the next three sets and thus his 19th Grand Slam title. 

It was Tsitsipas’ first encounter in a Grand Slam final and the experience of competing at the highest level will surely help the Greek star in his future encounters.

The Greek ace had a brilliant first half in 2021

Despite failing to win his first Grand Slam in Paris, there were positives to take back for Stefanos this season. During the Australian Open quarterfinal, he managed to beat Nadal after losing the first couple of sets, which is an incredibly rare feat. He also won the ATP Monte Carlo Masters, defeating Andrey Rublev in the final.

Now that the season is over, we wish the Greek talent all the best in his preparations for the next season. All eyes will be on the World No. 4 player Tsitsipas and how he performs in 2022. Will he be able to grab his first Slam next year?
