In the competitive world of inland wave pools, a formidable new entrant is making waves, quite literally. Marketed for surfers, beach and sun lovers, this new resort is all set to make the mark for you.

As reported by the BBC, construction is well underway for what promises to become the United Kingdom’s largest wave pool, The Lost Shore Surf Resort. The Last Shore resort is tucked away on the former Craigpark Quarry site near Edinburgh Airport. It is now making significant strides towards becoming a hub for wave enthusiasts. The state-of-the-art Wavegarden Cove-powered pool is the main attraction of the resort;  all primed to unleash an impressive 1,000 waves per hour when fully operational.

However, this is not just a story of waves. This is about luxury. This is about living the good life, putting your legs up and just hanging out like Matthew McConaughey in Dazed and Confused. Except, this promises to be much more fun.

The beach will also have an 820-foot-long beachfront. Accommodations at the resort will be diverse. Current plans include 31 luxury lodges designed for groups of up to eight. For smaller groups, the plans also include 22 premium pods.  The offerings do not end here. They are also set to offer a food market, a restaurant, and a spa.

Wavegarden Cove: Surfing’s Technological Frontier

One point of concern is that issues with the Wavegarden-powered pool caused the closure of Surf Snowdonia in Wales earlier this year. However, it is important to note that Surf Snowdonia relied on a foil-based technology.  This vastly predates the advanced Wavegarden Cove system that the Lost Shore Surf Resort will employ.

The Lost Shore Surf Resort addressed these concerns on its website.  “Due to the nature of Wavegarden technology, we will be able to continually run updates on the machine, meaning we will be able to remain at the cutting edge for many years to come.
