Former Atletico Madrid defender Tomas Ujfalusi has claimed that the Atleti fans will not forgive David de Gea, if he completes a move to city rivals Real Madrid.
De Gea has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid this summer from Manchester United, despite joining the Rojiblancos at the age of 13. De Gea played two seasons with Atletico’s first team, and won the Europa league and the European Super Cup with the club.
But reports that the goalkeeper might return to Spain as a Real Madrid player have prompted former team-mate Ujfalusi to say that the 24-year-old’s move will be a sign of betrayal to all the Atletico fans.

“No, no, no. They are not going to forgive him if he moves to Real Madrid, for sure,” the former Czech Republic international, who played for Atletico from 2008 to 2011, told the Daily Mail. “It’s also a surprise for me because he’s an Atletico Madrid fan – when he was young his heart was with Atletico Madrid. It’s not going to be easy for him to make this decision.”
Though Ujfalusi was surprised by all the speculation surrounding De Gea, he insisted that the Spanish shot-stopper is the best in England at the moment, and is ready for a new challenge in his career after four successful years with the Red Devils.
“I have to say De Gea,” he said, when asked who is the best goalkeeper in the premier league. “I was working with him for more than two years, and he was playing really well.”The beginning in Manchester United wasn’t so easy for him, but I think now he’s back in his old form and playing very well.”
Real Madrid have always been interested in signing De Gea, who has been Manchester United’s Player of the Year for two consecutive years. The dip in form of club captain Iker Casillas is also one of the major reasons for Madrid’s pursuit of De Gea.
United are reluctant to let go of the player easily. And according to recent reports, United have given an ultimatum to Madrid, stating that they will have to forget about signing De Gea, if they don’t include Sergio Ramos in the deal.
