Ronda Rousey was one of the first women fighters who introduced trash talk in her game. But little did the world know about the brash talker, who got into her opponent’s head ahead of blockbuster UFC bouts with her words, suffered a speech impediment in her childhood.

Rousey struggled with weight during her Judo career. Initially, the Arm Collector started at 138.9 lbs, but it was a hefty task for her.

Making weight and living a disciplined life during her teens made her life miserable. However, she changed the weight category for the Beijing Olympics. And it changed her fortune as well.

Competing at 154 lbs, Rousey qualified for the 2008 games. And after qualifying, The Rowdy One said, “I want a margarita.”

Rousey, who lost her father when she was only 8, realized her goal when she stood on the podium as the first female Judoka to hold an Olympic medal for the United States.

Her mother, Dr. AnnMaria De Mars, was also a renowned Judoka. She was the first American world champion (1984) in Judo.
