Cris Cyborg Makes History

Cris Cyborg joined Bellator after getting released from UFC. There were a lot of questions surrounding her legacy after the defeat of Amanda Nunes. However, Cyborg put the world on notice by finishing the Bellator featherweight champion, Julia Budd after a four-round war. With this win, Cris Cyborg became the first fighter to win titles at Strikeforce, Invicta, UFC, and Bellator. That achievement itself is a strong argument as to why she should be called the Greatest Women MMA fighter of all time.

Cris Cyborg also ended Julia Budd’s unbeaten streak of 2998 days. Ironically this win came in the same building where Cyborg’s unbeaten streak of 4973 ended by Nunes.

Going into the fight there was a lot of speculation surrounding how this fight would play out. Julia Budd is an elite striker with an impressive resume. It was believed she would give a tough challenge to Cris Cyborg and she sure did. The fight was full of action since the beginning. Cyborg dominated Budd pressing her up against the fence while Budd drops Cyborg with a right hand in the final minutes of round 1.

Cyborg Finishes Julia Budd in Round 4

Though Cyborg was scoring takedowns Julia Budd was getting back up using beautiful techniques. The majority part of the fight was on the feet and Budd out a valiant effort. However, Cyborg’s aggression, power, and relentless pressure were too much for the Bellator champion. In the fourth round, Cris Cyborg got Julia Budd against the fence and hurt her with some vicious body shots. in the end, Budd crumbles to the relentless attack from Cyborg and the fight was stopped at 1 minute 14 seconds of round number 4.

With this win, Cris Cyborg is back in action and she just defeated arguably the best featherweight fighter in Bellator. It would be intriguing to see who can put up a tough fight against Cyborg when she is in her elements.
