Since the loss to Michael Johnson, Tony Ferguson has been on a tear in the UFC’s lightweight division. Every step of the way, he has brutally destroyed his competition. Currently, he is on a 12 fight win streak with no one being able to stop him.

Ferguson was the interim lightweight champion before being stripped due to injury.

Some call him crazy, while others call him a genius. He is the most unorthodox yet the most complete fighter you will ever see inside the octagon. Ferguson is a creative genius. He is dangerous from any position, he can light up his opponents on the feet and also submit them on the ground.

What makes Tony Ferguson so special?

Once Ferguson gets in his element, it is nearly impossible to stop him. Nobody has been able to keep up with his high pace till now. His insane cardio can allow him to hit his opponents with power shots without gassing out.

Constant forward pressure by Ferguson is too much to deal with for his opponents. Unfortunately, some of his opponents do not even get the opportunity to go out on their shields. Ferguson’s last 2 victories came via doctor’s stoppage. He is known for his vicious elbows and d’arce chokes. Even if he gets tagged, the speed at which he can recover is insane.

Ferguson is in full control of his training camps. He may bring trainers from outside but he decides his schedule. He also has his own gym set up at Big Bear. When Ferguson severely injured his knee before UFC 223, he took the recovery in his own hands and was successful at it.

Apart from this, Ferguson is known to have crazy training sessions. He is the type of guy to kick steel pipes with his leg and breakdance to the weigh-ins.

Ferguson will take on Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 249 in April. Both of them have smashed through the best of the best in the lightweight division. The duo has been scheduled to fight four times prior, but the fight fell apart all four times. Things look promising this time and we may finally get the fight.
