UFC welterweight Bryan Barberena and Darian Weeks will collide on the main card opener for UFC Vegas 44. The fight card is headlined by bantamweight contenders Rob Font and Jose Aldo to mark the UFC’s return after a week-long hiatus. Barberena and Weeks will be looking to steal the spotlight as the opening fight on the main card and secure the ‘Fight of the Night’ bonus.
The welterweight division has soon become the premier weight class in the UFC, rivaled only by the 155-pound weight class. Divisional champion Kamaru Usman is extremely active, and he’s been clearing out the division with fervor. Fans will be excited to see some new faces emerge at the very top of the division moving forward.

UFC Vegas 44: Bryan Barberena vs Darian Weeks
‘Bam Bam’ Barberena comes in with a 15-8 record and is fresh off a majority decision loss to Jason Witt. Concerningly, he’s 1-3 in his last four fights and will have to pick up the win to stay a relevant player at welterweight. Bryan Barberena has faced several top fighters like Colby Covington, Leon Edwards, and Vicente Luque, however, he’s not been able to crack on past them.

Barberena infuses chaos with unrelenting pressure and durability very effectively, making him an entertaining fighter. At times, he throws caution to the wind and is susceptible to being taken down. However, pundits would project that Weeks would welcome a stand-up battle against him.
Darian Weeks boasts a 5-0 undefeated record and is the vastly less experienced fighter as compared to his opponent. Weeks will make his UFC debut on the card and will be eager to impress everyone with a spectacular performance. So far, he’s finished all five of his opponents which is a clear indication of his exciting style.

Darian Weeks is well-sized for the weight class and he uses his form effectively to break down his opponents. It will be interesting to see if Barberena decides to walk forward on Weeks especially since he’s very heavy-handed. For the most part, Weeks will find success at the end of his punches as his opponent cuts off the cage.
Prediction: Bryan Barberena to claim a first-round TKO
