UFC featherweights Max Holloway and Yair Rodriguez put on a show for UFC fans that they won’t be forgetting anytime soon. Both men went to war in the main event for UFC Vegas 42 and it was ‘Blessed’ who walked away with the victory on the scorecards. Right from the get-go, they traded heavy blows in the pocket pushed the pace for 25 minutes.
‘El Pantera’ was coming off a two-year layoff and still managed to put forth a good account of himself. As for Max Holloway, he broke multiple records in this fight and there’s almost no doubt that he’s next up for a title shot. Holloway is now the first UFC Fighter with over 3,000 total strikes landed and has never been knocked out or knocked down in at least 25 fights.

Dana White sounds off on Max Holloway vs Yair Rodriguez
UFC President Dana White was elated with the main event and made sure to give both men their flowers at the post-fight presser. White tagged the fight as one of the best he had seen, which is a high honor coming off the back of UFC 268. Additionally, the long-time UFC President also revealed that he exchanged a quick word with Holloway backstage.
“Insane. It’s one of the best fights I’ve ever seen. And the fact that Yair was off for two years, comes in and puts on a performance like this is unheard of.”

“And then Max, I didn’t think he was going to make it out of the second round with the calf kicks, then after he made it to the fifth round- he’s probably not going to be able to walk out of the octagon by himself….I just saw him [Holloway] back there, I said ‘You are a lunatic, it’s unbelievable how tough this guy is.”
UFC Vegas 42 delivered in a huge way and fans have been spoilt with several iconic performances over the last few weekends. Max Holloway has managed to solidify his position at the top and he’ll certainly be gearing up for a title shot. As it stands, the selection for the ‘Fight of the Year’ award is going to be an arduous task, to say the least.
