UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman took to Twitter and reacted to Rob Font’s dominant win over Cody Garbrandt. Font earned a unanimous decision win across the cards and picked up two 50-45’s on the judges’ scorecards as well. While ‘No Love’ had his moments early on in the fight, he began getting tagged increasingly as the fight went on.
Rob Font set up his offense on the back of a thunderous left jab that was successful in creating distance and providing space for power strikes. ‘No Love’ evaded some of Font’s jab heavy offense, but he was eventually overcome with the volume. By the end of the fight, Garbrandt was bloody and battered while Rob Font appeared to be the much fresher fighter.

Kamaru Usman vs Rob Font: The battle of the jabs
Following Rob Font’s impressive win, he spoke to Paul Felder who was extremely complimentary of the way he mounted his offense. ‘The Irish Dragon’ went so far as to call Font’s jab the best in MMA currently. Chiefly, Kamaru Usman took umbrage at Felder’s statement.
Damn best jab? Lol chill @felderpaul beautiful performance @RobSFont wonderful fight by both men. Head up @Cody_Nolove #UFCVegas27

While Usman followed up his declaration with a compliment, the competitive nature of ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ was on full display. Not too long ago, Kamaru Usman was being lauded for having the best jab when he dismantled Gilbert Burns. However, MMA is known to be a fickle sport.

Moving ahead, Rob Font will take away much more from his win than just being awarded the unofficial ‘best jab in the UFC award’. The New England Cartel product has expanded on his skills in an incremental fashion under Tyson Chartier. He’s now a top-ranked bantamweight who is knocking on the door of a title shot.
Rob Font will have his sights set on the winner of TJ Dillashaw vs Cory Sandhagen that will go down on a targeted date of July 24. The belt is being held up by a rematch between Aljamain Sterling and Petr Yan. This will force Font to win one more fight before challenging for the gold.
