The main card opener of UFC Fight Night Hermansson vs Vettori featured a lightweight fight between Jordan Leavitt and Matt Wiman. It ended in an absolute shocker. The undefeated Jordan Leavitt slammed his opponent to the ground after just 22 seconds of the opening round.

‘The Monkey King’ dominated and landed a takedown in the opening seconds of the fight. Subsequently, he took his opponent to the corner and landed the fight-ending blow. Wiman was left unconscious but he stood up after a while.

Matt Wiman made his eighteenth UFC octagon appearance today and couldn’t take advantage of his experience and standup game. He was coming off 2 consecutive losses since 2019 and was looking keen to secure a much-needed win.

He was unable to do so and suffered a third loss on the bounce. On the flipside, ‘The Monkey King’s’ perfect professional run continued, and he is now 8-0; four wins have come in 2020.

This was his first UFC fight after earning a contract in August whilst on Dana White’s Contender Series. Out of his 8 wins, 5  have come via submission. He is an excellent grappler, and his prime artillery was visible in today’s fight.

This year has been a thunderous one for ‘The Monkey King’. He has secured 4 wins in a row and will hope to have a lightweight tanking sooner rather than later.

Undeniably he has made a statement today and will have put the lightweight roster on notice. The UFC can line him up next against Drew Dober, Kevin Lee, or Al Iaquinta, so he’s tested into deep waters as well.
