

Conor McGregor’s Coach John Kavanagh took to Twitter and had some words of advice for young, up-and-coming fighters. He explained that it was important to be aware of the people who supported them when they start out in fighting. The famed coach’s words rang forth after comments made by Bloody Elbow Editor Zane Simon about the upcoming fight card.
Chiefly, Simon expressed his views that UFC Fight Night: Santos vs Teixeira was rather underwhelming from a viewing perspective. John Kavanagh felt that he wasn’t giving the event a fair shake due to the lack of big names on the card. Chiefly, Conor McGregor’s coach told fighters on the card to be wary of whom they give interviews to once they gain mainstream attention.

The two MMA personalities had a spirited back and forth as several Twitter users were keen to jump in on the action. Zane Simon felt that the current non-stop schedule of the UFC meant that media members needed to be selective of the events they cover. However, the upcoming Fight Night card is arguably one of the better ones on paper.
UFC Fight Night: Santos vs Teixeira
The main headliner sees a light heavyweight clash between Thiago Santos and Glover Teixeira for a spot toward title contention. The 205-pound division has well and truly become open season after Jon Jones decided to move to heavyweight. This has opened the door for fighters to make a quick dash towards the newly minted champion.

Additionally, there are several fights on the main card that are compelling, non more so that the main card opener. Claudia Gadelha and surging contender Yan Xiaonan will make their run towards the strawweight title with a win. What’s more, there are several fights on the card that are fan-friendly scraps between fighters who never fail to deliver.

The preliminary card itself has no shortage of fighters who can easily turn in a ‘Fight of the Night’ performance. MMA fans are aware that cards without marquee names often end up being some of the best events, period.
The eyeball test would indicate that the aforementioned card has the potential to produce several breakout stars and moments.
