Georges St-Pierre and Simone Biles – are both world-class athletes and are legends of their respective sports. While they both love gymnastics, there is another thing that these two phenomenal athletes have in common, and that’s their struggle with the mental side of the game.

Georges St-Pierre is widely regarded as the greatest fighter of all time. He was a guest on the PBD Podcast. The fighter during the podcast shed some light on how stressful fighting was for him. And how he prioritized mental health before money.

Reminiscent of GSP, Biles had also decided to step back from her individual all-around final at 2020 Tokyo Olympics. She stated mental-health-related issues to be the reason for her decision.

Georges St-Pierre talks about stress and the decision to retire

GSP said, ?What took the most out of me, during my active years of competition? It was the stress. I had a lot of stress, and I always told myself because it?s an addiction? you become addicted to this thing. It?s like a drug. Winning, especially winning a title, winning a fight it?s crazy man. I can?t describe.?

St-Pierre then described how he had made up his mind about retiring at the right time.?

The UFC champ said, ?I said after 40 years old, at 40 it?s finished. Of course, when I retired, I felt that I might have left money on the table. Maybe I could have stayed there for 2-3-4 more fights.?

Despite having enough gas left in him, GSP still chose retirement because, according to him, the consequence of a loss is devastating.?

He said, ?The consequence of a loss in this sport, it?s way more traumatic than it is in another sport.??

Emphasis on how retiring on time helps, the Canadian said, ?I?d rather retire when my stack his high when I?m healthy and I can enjoy the rest of my life, and also on a business perspective, when you retire on top, you turn around and you have a lot of opportunities that open to you?

GSP and Gymnastics

Since his retirement from the sport, the champ is seen posting regular content on the benefits of gymnastics and flashing his techniques of incorporating gymnastics with regular exercises

GSP was a two-time UFC welterweight champion and 1-time middleweight champion. He has defended his welterweight belt more times than any other welterweight champion in UFC?s history. Georges St-Pierre was inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame in 2020.
