Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian shared a similar personal experience when he sat with Joe Rogan. In episode #484 of JRE, the duo jokingly discussed some pop culture phenomena like RickRolling, Alexis Ohanian’s correct pronunciation, reviewed 4chan memes, and Rogan’s Galaxy 5 purchase experience.
In the same segment, the guest Alexis Ohanian opened up about how he shed away his public speaking fear.
Joe Rogan started the conversation by declaring that he was at RadioShack to buy headphones. To this statement, the 39-year-old investor mentioned that he was not unaware of the fact that RadioShack was still around. Following this revelation, the color commentator labeled Ohanian as an “elitist.”

Then Ohanian recalled that his first job was at CompUSA, but also he didn’t feel sad when the company shut down. Further, the internet entrepreneur brought up that he was a 13 or 14-year-old “pudgy kid” who used to demo video games.
While it was mostly computer hardware, in the middle of a CompUSA, he had a fixed routine. The $70 million worth of investor continued and mentioned that he’d get on the headset with a big TV behind him. Then, Ohanian would demo video games such as Madeline, and language learning software.
“And I’d have the same routine for like, 15 minutes, every 30 minutes, and literally, no one would be watching. And here I’m, this teenager going through puberty,” he added. Therefore, people would approach the young Ohanian. However, their approach was not exactly what he would have hoped for.

Without reservation, he disclosed, “People would walk up to me and be like, no one’s listening, kid. Just stop, no one is listening, and it’s like, I don’t blame you for hating me, but it was great. Because it got all of my public speaking fears out of the way. Because I spent two years being ignored, every, every 30 minutes.”
Joe Rogan afterward pointed out that it was a good way to shed away one’s fear. In conclusion, the famous investor agreed with the statement and called the demo job experience “great“.
