Rafael Nadal and Daniil Medvedev produced one of the greatest tennis matches of all time. Both players met in the Australian Open 2022 final and, as everyone expected, it was a cracker of a match.

The Russian started the match on the front foot and dominated the 2009 champion. He did so with some exhilarating groundstrokes and kept Nadal uncomfortable.

Medvedev went 2-0 up and looked to be cruising to an easy win. However, the Spaniard did what he does best and came roaring back into the match. He overpowered Medvedev in the next three sets and, after battling for over five hours, finally was able to get the historic 21st grand slam win.

With the win, he created history and became the first man to win 21 singles grand slam titles. Before the win, he was tied on 20 with Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic.
