UFC Tampa has been nothing less than spectacular till now. After an eventful and exciting prelims, the main card started with a barn burner between Eryk Anders and Gerald Meerschaert. It was a slug fest for entire 3 rounds. Well, the crowd did not has to wait much longer for some good action as in the next fight, Matt Frevola and Luis Pena probably put the performance of their careers in front of a very demanding crowd.
Well, the pressure was on hometown hero, Matt Frevola to perform in front of a crowd cheering for him to get the victory and he sure did give some entertainment to the crowd. The fight started with some beautiful boxing from Frevola. His hand speed and combinations were very impressive, to say the least. Not only on the feet, Matt Frevola showed some impressive moves with his wrestling too. Frevola slammed Luis Pena on his back and kept slamming him while Pena was trying to get a kimura in. However, Frevola was able to get out of it and it seemed he did enough to get the first round in his bag.
In the second round, Luis Pena made a huge come back and almost knocked out Matt Frevola with a brutal flying knee. Although, Frevola survived that round, Luis Pena did some damage in that round with his striking. He was using his jabs and kicks in the first round too but those were not as effective as those were in the second round. So it’s safe to say Luis Pena won the round 2.

Going into the third and decisive round, the fight was up for grab. Matt frevola rose to the occasion and did an amazing job in the last round. In the third round, Frevola tagged Pena and was able to secure a takedown after a flying knee. this was huge considering how close the fight was on the judges’ cards. In the end, Frevola did enough to get a split decision victory. Two judges scored in favor of Frevola with 29-28 and 29-28.

After the decision, Luis pena was clearly frustrated as he rushed out of the octagon to the back.
