The first UFC event in its Apex facility at Las Vegas went off quite smoothly. Thus, it has now opened opportunities for the UFC to conduct many more events. And Dana White is planning to roll out event-after-event as weeks go by. He says that he wanted to be back on schedule, which the UFC now is. They are also setting up various fights for an exciting summer. One of these fights in the re-booked Heavyweight brawl, Curtis Blaydes vs Alexander Volkov.
The bout between the two Heavyweight elites was to take place in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. However, just like many of their events earlier this year, the event with the fight, too, faces the brunt of the coronavirus.
Nevertheless, due to the UFC Boss’s dedication towards rolling out fight, the event will carry on as the five-round main card battle on 20 June. Just that the venue is now the Alex facility in the Entertainment Capital of the World.

Both Blaydes and Volkov are riding on impressive high tides in their respective careers. Curtis is on an impressive 3-fight win streak, with an impressive KO victory over Junior Dos Santos this January.
On the other hand, Volkov is coming off an impressive victory over Greg hardy. The 31-year-old holds an impressive 5-1 record in the promotion, with victories over great fighters like Fabricio Werdum and Roy Nelson. The Russian has held the Heavyweight titles in Bellator Fc as well as M-1 Global, aiming to make UFC his third destination for acquiring Heavyweight gold.

The UFC’s Heavyweight division has stood inactive for quite some time now. However, it looks like the winds of change are finally gracing the division.
The activity from almost all fighters in the top ten has gone up a notch. Moreover, with heavyweight veterans like Fabricio Werdum returning and Alistair Overeem embarking on one final title run, there is a whole new surge of excitement emerging.

UFC President Dana White, too, stated that as soon as the trilogy fight between Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier is done with, title shots need to start appearing more frequently. He said that it is time to get the Heavyweight division rolling. And now, with the winner of Blades vs Volkov, we might just get another title contender.
