UFC Raleigh took place inside PNC Arena and the crowd looked absolutely shocked at the outcome of the entire event. Blaydes picked up an impressive victory against former UFC champion Junior Dos Santos. In the process, he also cemented his position for the UFC heavyweight title. Blaydes has three back to back wins to his name and has mostly looked dominant in all his fights. Michael Chiesa also picked up a shocking victory against Rafael Dos Anjos.

UFC Raleigh brought some shocking results and some incredible knockouts. However, there was also a brilliant submission that Alex Perez pulled off to pick up the victory. He looked incredible in the fight against Jordan Espinosa as he picked up a first-round victory, by forcing Espinosa to tap on an arm-triangle choke under two minutes of the fight.

Espinosa started the fight with advancing towards Perez to grow some pressure in the early minutes of the fight. However, Perez successfully managed a takedown to put Espinosa down. It took less than half a round for Perez to successfully force an arm-triangle choke. In the process, he also secured a second straight win to his name. The victory might have reminded many MMA fans of a similar scary finish we witnessed when Georges St-Pierre took on middleweight champion Michael Bisping for the UFC gold. Espinosa’s hands went limb, as the referee quickly informed Alex about the same, and checked up on Espinosa. It was brilliant work from the referee, who called the fight at the right time.

Perez has only lost once in his last six fights under UFC. #1 title contender Joseph Benavidez knocked out Perez in the first round back in 2018. The fight also marked Perez’s first loss via KO. In his 28 octagon appearances, Perez has only tasted defeat five times.

With this win, Perez will look to fight against top 10 fighters in an attempt to get closer to the title belt. A couple of wins from here can potentially earn him a title fight.
