Jon Jones is often considered the GOAT of MMA. But in the heavyweight list of greats, he’s still one name of many. Especially in the contemporary scenario, Jones has a lot of competition. This includes the former UFC heavyweight champion and current PFL icon, Francis Ngannou.

Recently, ‘Bones’ flew to Riyadh to attend the Saturday PFL event where Francis Ngannou was also present with his boxing coach, Mike Tyson. Here, Jones took some time to speak to the cage side commentators who had some questions for the heavyweight legend.

Jones spoke about the many heavyweight fights the fans want to see him involved in within the UFC as well as outside of it. He listed down the Stipe Miocic bout that got canceled last year. A potential fight with interim heavyweight champ, Tom Aspinall was also on Jones’ mind.

And finally, the one fight we may never get to see, Jones vs Ngannou. As soon as Jones mentioned ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’ the camera panned towards where Ngannou was sitting. And with a sly smile, Ngannou shouted out his thoughts to the camera.

“In your dreams. You’re f*cking fat.” Ngannou laughed and Jones, even though he probably heard the comment didn’t react to it. But it surely got the fandom’s attention as UFC and MMA fans lined up the Instagram post narrating the incident.

Fans side with Jon Jones on this one

The UFC fandom may want to outdo the PFL fandom with this one. Either way, both sides can only be MMA fans who must know the prowess of both, Jon Jones and Ngannou. The debate might never be settled but here are some fans making a case for Jones.

“Dudes life is an unreal movie … can’t help but think how much MORE decorated he could be in an alternate reality.”

While some gave Jones his props, others recalled the Ciryl Gane matchup.

“I’m sure cyril thought the same sh*t. Lol”

Yet others believed Jones was getting older.

Some defended his shape.

Show me someone with a torn pec in good shape”

“Chubby Jones still submits ripped Nganou.”

Yet some others believed Ngannou had no chance.

“Francis would never beat jones.”

“Jon beats Francis fairly easily. Tom might f*ck Jon up tho tbh..”

The fandom is as divided as it could be about the heavyweight debate. Would Jones beat Francis Ngannou in an MMA matchup? Or would ‘The Predator’ come up as superior? There’s no real way to tell and unfortunately, we may just never find out. But what are your theories? Let us know in the comments.
