Demetrious Johnson vs. Henry Cejudo is one of the most talked-about rivalries in UFC history. However, this rivalry has not been put to rest as the pair are 1-1 against each other.
Both Johnson and Cejudo have accomplished a lot in their respective careers. ‘Triple C’ is a former UFC two-division champion and an Olympic gold medalist. Meanwhile, ‘Mighty Mouse’ is the former inaugural UFC flyweight champion and the 2019 ONE Championship flyweight World Grand Prix Champion.

Thus, a trilogy fight between the pair will be one of the most entertaining MMA bouts. It is a fight that fans have been wanting for a long time. And it might just come to fruition.
In an exclusive interview with Sportskeeda, Johnson revealed he is open to a trilogy fight against Cejudo. However, this time it would be in ONE championship.
‘Mighty Mouse’ said – “Of course, absolutely yeah. I feel like that would be another fight that a lot of fans would want to see.”
Whether now or a few years after Cejudo can get out of his contract, this matchup will most certainly be as thrilling as the first two bouts between the two.
Mighty Mouse on Henry Cejudo’s UFC contract
However good it may sound, to make this fight come to fruition would not be a simple task. As per Johnson, he still believes that Cejudo is still under a UFC contract. If that is true, it will be one of the biggest hurdles to make this trilogy possible.
In the same interview, Johnson said – “I believe he [Cejudo] is still under contract with the UFC. I mean, he did retire, but that’s what happens when you retire – they freeze your contract. That’s what happened to Urijah Faber, you know. I remember he expressed that he wanted to come and fight for ONE, but his contract froze.”
“And it’s just like Jorge Masvidal – he wants to go fight Jake Paul, but they’re not going to let him do that. Especially as there’s fights that the UFC can make for Henry Cejudo. He can come back and fight Petr Yan. He can fight Aljamain Sterling. If he wanted to come back down to 125lb, he can do that as well.”
“I feel like when they let me out of my contract, there was nothing left for me to do over there. For Henry Cejudo, I feel there’s a lot more they could do with him than me when I was over there. But that’s my personal opinion.” – ‘Mighty Mouse’ added.
