Besides the action fans witnessed from the Vasyl Lomachenko vs George Kambosos Jr headlined boxing PPV, a chaotic scorecard blunder might have stained the event a bit. Former UFC champion and current ONE Championship champion, Demetrious Johnson appeared surprised to witness such a kind of mistake, prompting him to react on social media.

While Vasyl Lomachenko returned with an emphatic knockout win, the co-main event saw the WBA bantamweight title change hands. However, the way it changed hands was not to the liking of the combat sports community because of the announcer’s error. As such, Demetrious Johnson chimed into the conversation, predicting that the announcer could be subjected to serious consequences.

Before Vasyl Lomachenko and George Kambosos Jr. got in on inside the ring, it was time for Nina Hughes to defend her bantamweight title against Cherneka Johnson. After the fight ended with 10 rounds in the books, both stood in the center of the ring alongside the referee in anticipation of the judge’s scorecard.

At first, the defending champion was declared the winner after two judges scored in her favor, giving her a majority decision win. She erupted with joy, but her celebration had to take a back seat as both fighters suffered a rollercoaster of emotions.

The ring announcer came back with revised scores, as there was some significant confusion surrounding it. The fighters took the center ring again and this time the score was seen to have been in favor of Cherneka Johnson, who was the real majority decision victor, with the judges scoring 95-95, 96-94, and 98-92, leading the title to change hands thereafter. A few video clips of the announcement blunder surfaced online, and when Demetrious Johnson came across one shared by Ariel Helwani, he predicted that the ring announcer may have to find a new job.

“Welp he fooking fired,” ‘Mighty Mouse’ wrote on X. Even the fans, who appeared to be full of rage due to the scorecard chaos, seemed to agree with Demetrious Johnson. Besides, this announcing error just happened a few days after UFC’s own Bruce Buffer made a shocking mistake at UFC 301.

Bruce Buffer’s slip-up at UFC 301

Anthony Smith returned with a bang at UFC 301 with an exceptional performance at the age of 35. The light heavyweight veteran took on the up-and-coming Vitor Petrino, an undefeated fighter, who lost his ‘0’ in the very first round of the fight after a guillotine choke submission by ‘Lionheart’. The win was already a big one and fans and pundits were talking about it. However, what made the event more memorable was a blunder made by the Voice of the UFC, Bruce Buffer.

It was time! Well, not for some action, but for some errors. When both Anthony Smith and Vitor Petrino stood with the referee for the official announcement, Bruce Biffer had a rare slip-up when he declared the submitted Vitor Petrino as the victor. Of course, everybody was surprised, but it didn’t take too much time for the UFC ring-announcing legend to rectify his mistake and take Smith’s name as the winner. The mistake wasn’t taken out of proportion since ‘Lionheart’ shared a laugh with Buffer thereafter.
