Recently, the UFC was forced to suspend all of its events indefinitely. The media and the reporters were quick enough to jump on Dana White for his shrewd decisions. However, Conor McGregor’s coach, John Kavanagh jumped in to defend the UFC president from a senior editor at MMA Junkie.
The UFC was in turmoil for the last few weeks. After conducting an event behind closed doors, it decided to postpone 3 of its fight cards indefinitely. But, surprisingly, they attempted to move forward with UFC 249 as planned. Weeks before the fight, numerous fighters pulled out and some bouts were even scratched off the card completely.
Dana White took it up as a challenge. He tried to put up one of the baddest fight cards in UFC’s history with Justin Gaethje vs Tony Ferguson as the main event. White’s plans were foiled when top Disney and ESPN officials asked him to ‘stand down.’ While many fans and media outlets lauded White’s efforts, there were some who did not like his style of conducting business.

Conor McGregor’s coach comes out to support Dana White
A recent tweet from Dave Doyle—senior editor at MMA Junkie—criticized Dana White for failing as a leader.
The Tweet read:
“The past month has been an absolute failure of leadership and a permanent stain on the company.”
Indeed, White wasn’t able to keep UFC 249 alive. But the man tried his absolute best. From booking fights on tribal lands to buying an island, he pulled out all the stops to make things work. He tried to bring back normalcy in the sports world when no other sport tried to.
However, this wasn’t the first time White attempted a stunt like this. In the early days of the UFC, MMA was illegal in almost all of the states. However, White and his team got it legalized in each state one after the other. Coach John Kavanagh was quick enough to point out this fact.
If dana didn't have this slightly crazy attitude of trying to make the impossible happen then UFC wouldn't have made it in the early days. In which case you wouldn't have a job at mmajunkie as it wouldn't exist. Now is not the time for sniping from the comfortable sidelines.

Hes not kicking someone when they're down. As for the tweet you deleted I didn't say you'd be out of work, just not working for mma junkie. Anyway I hope you and your family safe and holding up thru these tough times. It's time to be together against this terrible disease.

Dana White might be one of the most underrated characters in the company. It’s no brainer that he receives backlash for most of his decisions. And sometimes the criticism might make sense. However, calling his leadership failure is not right. As Joe Rogan keeps reminding us, without Dana White none of this could have been possible.
