Tony Ferguson has been relatively quiet after his loss at the hands of Justin Gaethje. However, his name was coming up a lot for a fight against Dustin Poirier, the possibility of which looks very thin right now. Meanwhile, Ferguson came out and had some harsh words for both the interim champ Justin Gaethje and the champ Khabib Nurmagomedov.
In an interview with Ariel Helwani of ESPN, ‘El Cucuy’ made it clear that while he loves the UFC and Dana White, he is not friends with anybody. At the end of the day, he considers himself a contractor who will look out for his best interest.

A former interim champ himself, Ferguson suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of Justin Gaethje earlier in May. That fight was the one that resulted in Gaethje earning a shot against Khabib. While Ferguson doesn’t have a belt right now, it seems he has a sense of ownership for the UFC gold that he once held around his waist.
“Justin Gaethje you’re f–king welcome you have a belt, son. I’m gonna tell you that (to) go get my belt cause that ass gonna get f–king whipped. And I’m coming for it. So both you and f–king fathead. My mat, my f–king time,” Ferguson said.
Dustin Poirier has been linked with both Tony Ferguson and Conor McGregor
The UFC has been looking to book Poirier vs Ferguson for later this year. However, Dustin Poirier felt that the price UFC offered for the fight was less than what he wanted. Consequently, the fight fell through. Throughout the incident, Ferguson revealed nothing about the negotiations that were going on between him and the UFC.
For ‘The Diamond’, Ferguson isn’t the only option as there was an open conversation between him and Conor McGregor for a charity boxing contest at the end of the year. However, there haven’t been any further details on how far that pairing has progressed.

Ferguson simply wants a chance at the 155-pound belt. The UFC lightweight has been one of the rather ill-fated fighters in the division. Despite riding a twelve fight win streak, he still didn’t have his shot at UFC gold.

Consequently, he isn’t worrying about if he has to defeat Poirier or Michael Chandler, if the money is right he will fight anyone to get closer to a title shot.
