Bantamweight champion Petr Yan appears to be desperate about competing against former champion Cody Garbrandt. Although Yan has got plenty of other options in the bantamweight roster, he is seemingly hunting down Garbrandt.
The recently crowned bantamweight champion lashed at Cody for expressing his desire to move to the flyweight division. Despite hinting at other potential opponents, Yan notably teased his interest towards the 29-year-old American superstar.
Petr Yan and Garbrandt have already intensified their relationship with some recent social media call-outs. Yet, it is the Russian who is not ready to let go Garbrandt with ease.

Petr Yan brutally thrashes Cody Garbrandt for hinting at his flyweight move
While Garbrandt seemingly shocked a lot of fans with his latest revelation about the flyweight move, ‘No Mercy’ Yan seems to be vexed about it. Garbrandt is a terrific knockout artist and has already held the UFC gold. However, his resume is still not adequate to terrorize the Russian Petr Yan.
That moment when No Chin was walking to take a piss but ended peeing himself. You only bark but don’t bite and now you running away to flyweight division. Shut up while I will fight contenders who have balls to challenge me. https://t.co/aV0YkKOJJw pic.twitter.com/yvp1ompIxq

Yan posted a video clip of him and Garbrandt getting into a backstage verbal feud in the past. Although officials intervened before the interaction turned hideous, Yan and Garbrandt steadily mocked each other throughout. To add some more thrill, Yan mocked Cody in his latest twitter caption too.
After Garbrandt declared on ESPN about his plans to move to the flyweight division, Petr Yan acknowledged their heated interaction from the past. The Russian world champion wrote, “That moment when No Chin was walking to take a piss but ended peeing himself. You only bark but don’t bite and now you running away to flyweight division. Shut up while I will fight contenders who have ba*** to challenge me,”.
‘No Love’ show in the bantamweight division
Cody recently resurrected his fighting career by knocking out Raphael Assuncao at UFC 250. He was on a three-fight losing streak before that. While the former champ is back on the winning track, he seems to be done with the division for the time.

Garbrandt’s inception into the flyweight roster can be a promising factor for the division. The falling unit recently witnessed a steady rise with the newly crowned champion Deiveson Figueiredo notching the win at UFC 251. After Cejudo vacated the flyweight championship in 2019, the division was left stranded without a champion.
While Figueiredo as the new champion now, Garbrandt wants to get a piece of him. No wonder, if ‘No Love’ wins the fight, he will become a two-division champion in the UFC, following the footsteps of veterans like BJ Penn and Georges St-Pierre.
