The UFC has announced the signing of yet another member from the Nurmagomedov family.
Umar Nurmagomedov, the cousin brother of Khabib Nurmagomedov is the latest member to join the UFC.
The 24-year-old is relatively new to the sport of MMA. However, within a few years, he amassed a record of 12 wins with no losses. Umar had a majority of his fights in Russia. While six of his victories came via decision, five of his opponents were submitted. He also has a TKO finish in his career.
Umar trains under Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov in Dagestan and Javier Mendes while in the United States. He competes in the bantamweight division and has fought under promotions such as Pro Fighting League, Fight Star, Samara MMA Federation, Battle on Volga, and Gorilla Fighting Championship.

Umar Nurmagomedov gets signed by the UFC
The Dagestani took on Braian Gonzalez in his last fight at Gorilla Fighting Championship 20. Umar quickly established his dominance on the ground and finished his opponent by a rear-naked choke in the very first round. This fight put Umar on the UFC’s radar.

Umar is expected to make his debut at UFC 249 which is headlined by Khabib Nurmagomedov and Tony Ferguson. However, his opponent is not yet confirmed.
Looking at his past fights, it seems like Umar has a similar fighting style like Khabib. He is dominant on the ground and in the clinch. The rear-naked choke seems to be his favorite submission for now.
Umar is no novice when it comes to the striking, he has a background in Muay Thai and Combat Sambo.
