Alistair Overeem is trying to stay active and fight as many times as he can before age eventually catches up to him. The Dutch fighter is a four-decade combat sports veteran with 66 MMA fights and many more kickboxing bouts under his belt. He won his last fight against Augusto Sakai and turned his attention to a sixty-seventh MMA fight against a familiar foe.

‘The Demolition Man’ expressed interest in fighting Jairzinho Rozenstruik. This is the only fighter to have claimed a win over him in his last five trips to the octagon.

He said, “Well I am, I am who says I’m not interested in him. I mean, I still have a score to settle. He stole something from me. He snuck away with the victory. I mean, I schooled the man. He knows it, everybody knows it, the whole world knows it, but somehow he still has that W. So we definitely have a score to settle.”

Overeem led on the scorecards against Rozenstruik when the duo fought last December. He was seconds away from sealing a victory before ‘Bigi Boy’ stunned everyone watching. The Surinamese fighter heard the clack at the final 10 seconds of the round and unleashed a flurry that had Overeem backpedaling.

The last punch opened up a grotesque cut on his lip, left him dazed, and sent him crashing onto the floor. Overeem believes he wasn’t out and with just seconds left the fight should have continued.

Alistair Overeem feels he is on a five-fight winning streak

The 40-year-old fighter believes he won the fight despite what the record books show. When questioned about being seconds away from a five-fight winning run, he said, “Actually, I am. That’s the way it feels to me.”

However, as he doesn’t have the win on paper, ‘The Demolition Man’ wants to run it back against ‘Bigi Boy’.

Rozenstruik claimed a win against Junior Dos Santos in his last fight and sits one rung above Overeem in the heavyweight rankings. Hence, the fight makes sense both from a ranking and a personal perspective.

Do you see the UFC booking the two heavyweights and allowing Overeem to have a chance at avenging what he claims to be a loss on paper?
