Both Masvidal and Romero share Cuban roots. They train together at American Top Team. The two have also made an appearance on a Latin American reality show Exathlon together last year. The list of similarities doesn’t end there. They are both managed by Abraham Kawa. The First Round Management supremo posted a video on his Twitter account that showed the two wrestle in a closed room. It was more of a friendly sparring session.

Abraham Kawa labels Yoel Romero and Jorge Masvidal as two of the best

Both Jorge Masvidal and Yoel Romero have no fights scheduled right now. However, they are at very different stages of their career. Masvidal is in the middle of an open feud with the UFC. He is often disclosing what is wrong with UFC contracts. Masvidal has been accusing UFC of not giving its fighters enough leverage in their dealings.

Jorge had a breakthrough year in 2019. All three of his victories were bigger than the previous ones. It was the consensus that he should be fighting Kamaru Usman for the belt next. Even the UFC wanted to book Masvidal vs Usman. However, trouble ensued during the negotiations of the deal.

Masvidal said he was getting paid less than his last fight against Nate Diaz. He blamed the Nigerian champ for not being a good enough draw. Since then, ‘Gamebred’ has been at loggerheads with the organization. The UFC, however, has quickly moved on. They have booked Gilbert Burns to fight the 170-pounds kingpin next month at UFC 251 on Fight Island.

Yoel Romero, on the other hand, is coming off a loss in the title fight for the third time. His lackluster performance led to criticism of the UFC. Fans have still not forgotten the rather eventless fight against Israel Adesanya. They trolled Romero for engaging more with Masvidal in the video than he did against the Middleweight champ.
