As a part of the promotional event for the launch of EA Sports UFC 4, Max Holloway played a live match on the game with ace comedian Hannibal Buress.
Moreover, the character selection of both players turned out to be quite interesting. Even for real life! While ‘Blessed‘ chose himself in the game, Buress chose to play as the Featherweight champion of the UFC, Alexander Volkanovski.

In a tie where trilogies are stealing the limelight, this sure was a great matchup! After all, it is not entirely impossible that Holloway might just meet ‘The Great‘ for the third consecutive time for a final trilogy fight. However, for now, let us see how the fight progressed in the virtual world.
Virtual trilogy- Max Holloway vs Alexander Volkanovski
The fight started with Holloway throwing a great combo right away. Yet, he kept the pressure light, allowing Buress some space to land devastating shots.
However, as Buress struggled to get a measure on the distance, Holloway capitalized with some jabs and powerful uppercuts. Truly, Volkanovski has a rock for a chin as a game character too! The two continued exchanging blows, each character coming back with stronger attacks.
Midway through the first round, Volkanovski landed some spontaneous head kicks. He evaded the strikes Holloway landed quite decently.
Thereafter, Buress went for a clinch and landed a huge knee right to Holloway’s head, sending him crashing into the canvas. Nevertheless, Holloway got back up just as quickly as he went down. And that is when he stopped toying around.
The former Featherweight champion began putting the pressure on. He effectively evaded most strikes and landed some beautiful strikes on Volkanovski.
What is encouraging to note here is that the game has lived up to its promise of providing a real-life and immersive experience. The difference in the reach proves out to be just as real as the actual fight!
Holloway wins via TKO
Towards the end of the first round, Holloway ended the fight. He dropped Buress as soon as they entered the last one minute. Even though he got back up instantaneously, Holloway kept the pressure on.
