‘The Joker’ Jack Hermansson bounced back to the win column with a win against Kelvin Gastelum in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 173. The Middleweight superstar submitted Gastelum in the very first round of their contest. The finish surprised a bunch of UFC fans, who expected the matchup to be an absolute thriller.
No wonder the fight could have been filled with fireworks if taken to the final rounds. Hermansson and Gastelum started with interesting stances. ‘KG’ was successfully closing the distance to apply some significant strikes. For a moment, it appeared as if Kelvin Gastelum was dictating the primary round. Gastelum gained some extra attention after he successfully tripped Hermansson on the ground.
Although Hermansson initiated the move, he could not control the takedown. That said, the ‘Joker’ regained his position by going for a ‘heel hook’ later. To everyone’s surprise, the submission move escalated quickly, forcing Gastelum to tap out. Needles to say, it was an easy win for Jack ‘Joker’ Hermansson and he has already set his eyes over the next opponent.

Besides that, the ‘Joker’ was celebrating in fashion with his coach after the successful event. Hermansson’s coach pulled him up and tripped him on the mat. As if it was a celebration call and ‘Joker’ seemed equally satisfied with it.
Jack Hermansson wants to face the winner of Robert Whittaker vs Darren Till
Dana White’s ambitious UFC Fight Island will conclude with the succession of UFC Fight Night ‘Whittaker vs Till’ on July 25. However, it seems that Dana White won’t have to wait for another middleweight thriller shortly.
After finishing Gastelum, Hermansson expressed his interest in facing the winner of Whittaker vs Till. If Hermansson manages to win another bout, he is expected to earn a title shot at the 185 lbs UFC gold. However, it is still not official whether those fights will materialize.

What’s next for Gastelum?
Following his recent loss, Kelvin Gastelum is on a three-fight losing streak. It seems that Gastelum has to wait for much longer now to get back into the title tale. However, ‘KG’ is still one of the deadliest middleweights on planet earth and is expected to bounce back into the win column soon. Dana White and Gastelum is yet to reflect over the American’s recent loss.
