Ian Heinisch was victorious at UFC 250 against Gerald Meerschaert in the UFC Apex Facility. The fight was essentially over once ‘The Hurricane’ landed a swift right straight that put Meerschaert to the canvas. The co-headliner of the prelims saw a first-round finish in at just 01:14.
Following some powerful ground and pound, the referee was left with no choice but to call the fight.

The Middleweight match-up was briefly canceled due to a coronavirus scare to Ian’s cornerman. The bout was reinstated since results went on to show a false test. Anthony Ivy was quickly brought in to replace Ian Heinisch on the card.
After a second test was concluded as negative, Ian was once again called upon to fight Meerschaert.
Although the fight was in jeopardy, it never failed to deliver on the action. Heinisch was pressing the action early and his stand-up game seemed to have been polished up.

The broadcast mentioned Ian’s resurgence could be due to his added focus on Muay-Thai in Thailand. Many fighters have chosen the option to train in Thailand because of the disciplined striking it provides. Khalil Rountree famously attributed his success to the training regimes of Phuket Thailand.
‘The Hurricane’ is coming off two losses and this fight proved to be a critical opportunity to prove himself. In light of the current state of the 185-pound division, another loss would mean a major setback.
His opponent is truly a veteran in MMA boasting over 40 professional fights. Meerschaert who has been splitting wins and losses was keen to build up some momentum. The Roufus sport fighter was coming off a victory against AKA prospect Deron Winn.

Ian Heinisch will be looking to carry forward his newly found momentum. Although a title shot is still a significant way away Heinisch showed promise in his most recent victory.
