The UFC was the first sport to return after the coronavirus wreaked havoc with sporting schedules globally. Now, the MMA organization is going full steam ahead and will return with another event on May 30. The UFC has set one fight for the event too, which will see the return of former champion Tyron Woodley.
UFC May 30’s Main Event will feature Tyron Woodley
The main event at UFC May 30 will see Tyron Woodley fight Gilbert Burns in a Welterweight clash. The 6th ranked Welterweight put out a tweet saying, “Bout agreement is signed! May 30th! Let’s go”

ESPN’s Ariel Helwani, too, confirmed the news. We will see the top-ranked former Champion make his return to the Octagon after 14 months. In his last appearance at UFC 235, he dropped the Championship to Kamaru Usman in a unanimous decision defeat. The loss was his first since UFC 174, ending a 7 fight unbeaten run.
Meanwhile, his opponent has been quite active over the past calendar year. ‘Durinho’ has 4 wins from 4 fights since last April and is on a 5 fight win streak. A win over the former champion will propel his name to conversations for ‘The Nigerian Nightmare’s next opponent.

‘Durinho’ could have the advantage as he has one fight behind closed doors under his belt. He beat Demian Maia via first-round TKO at UFC Fight Night: Lee vs Oliviera. The event took place at Ginasio Nilson Nelson. However, neither ‘The Chosen One’ nor ‘Durinho’ know the venue for their upcoming clash.
UFC President Dana White wants to hold events at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada until Fight Island is ready. However, if sports are not allowed to resume, he could find a home in neighboring Arizona. The state has followed Florida’s lead and opened its doors to sporting promotions.
Regarding holding events in Arizona, Dana White has said, “That’s where I’ll go. That’s 100 percent where I’ll go.”
