A technical striking battle
The Brazilian enters the bout on the back of a three-fight losing streak for the first time in his career. Vera is coming off a spectacular win over UFC prospect Sean O’Malley.
Jose Aldo (28-7) is now 34 years of age. While his best days are behind him, he remains confident that he can challenge for the title again. The Brazilian finds himself in a precarious situation on the back of three consecutive losses. Alexander Volkanovski, Marlon Moraes, and Petr Yan have all been able to get the better of the Brazilian. Despite a decline, Aldo remains one of the very best in the world.

Marlon Vera enters the fight on a high. Beating Sean O’Malley in a first-round TKO has put the Ecuadorian on the map for the MMA community. ‘Chito’ will now head into the last card of the year looking to get the biggest victory of his career over a former UFC champion and legend.
He has only lost once in his last seven fights. The loss was a controversial unanimous decision going to Song Yadong.

Jose Aldo vs Marlon Vera
Both Aldo and Vera are technical strikers and are expected to keep the fight standing. Aldo has 17 KO/TKO victories to his record with just one submission. He is considered to be the more powerful striker between the two, and his experience could play a key role in this fight. A concern for Aldo however is his gas tank. He suffered a TKO loss to champion Petr Yan in the fifth round. This time, a three-round fight could prove favorable for him.

Vera has submissions in his artillery with eight submissions and six T/KO to his name. The Ecuadorian has been very impressive with six stoppages in his last six wins. He will look to make it seven at the UFC Apex. However, he has never faced anyone like Aldo, and the aging legend will not want to lose four in a row.
