Montana De La Rosa and Taila Santos will face off this weekend in a flyweight bout. The matchup will take place on UFC Fight Night: Jack Hermansson vs Marvin Vettori. The event is set for December 5, UFC Fight Night: Jack Hermansson vs Marvin Vettori will take place at the UFC Apex facility in Las Vegas, Nevada. The fight will take place on the main card of UFC Vegas 16.
Montana, ranked #15 in the UFC flyweight rankings, will take on unranked Santos, who was a Dana White’s Contender Series winner. Both ladies will look to make a statement and propel themselves further up the division.
De la Rosa is coming off a loss to Viviane Araujo. The Brazilian served as a replacement to Maryna Moroz, who could not compete because of COVID-19. The 25-year-old will now look at getting back to winning ways after losing to a last-minute opponent change. She is currently 11-6 in her career. She will now face another Brazilian in the unranked Taila Santos.

Making her way to the UFC through the Contender Series, Santos was undefeated in her professional career. Although in her official UFC debut, she lost a close split decision to Mara Romero Borella. Taila would win her next fight against Molly McCann by unanimous decision. She now has a professional record of 16-1 and is split at 1-1 in the UFC.

The American, Montana, finds herself in unfamiliar territory. She has now lost two of her last three fights against Andrea Lee and Viviane Araujo. Before losing to Lee, Montana had racked up four submission victories in a row. She did however get a unanimous decision win over Mara Romero Borella between the two losses.

Santos’s only loss oddly enough has come against Mara Romero Borella. Prior to going on the Contender Series, Santos had a record of 14 wins, 12 of them via TKOs and submissions. The Brazilian is very dangerous on her feet; she also has a strong submission game.
A win over De La Rosa will send Taila into the top 15 rankings of the UFC. Santos (27 years) will look to impose her game and secure a finish over Montana (25 years) and show the fans why she was signed by the UFC.
