Along with the Apex Center, come certain adjustments that a fighter is required to make. The Apex houses a smaller 25-foot cage compared to the regular 30-foot cage. After a single event, it is clear that this change impacts the fights as a whole.

UFC Apex: How does it play out?

The Main Event sees the return of former title challenger Jessica ‘Evil’ Eye, who will take on Cynthia Calvillo. Both fighters have recent losses that they would like to put behind them. ‘Evil’ Eye was brutalized with a head kick KO against Champion Valentina Shevchenko last year. Contrastingly, Calvillo is returning after a majority draw.

The card also sees the re-booking of Marvin Vettori vs Karl Roberson. This fight has fallen through before and the intensity between the fighters has seemingly picked up. Notable names such as Bantamweight Ray Borg and Featherweight Andre Fili have also been booked to fight on the main card.

The prelims are headlined by Mariya Agapova and Melissa Gatto. The former Invicta FC fighter Agapova is coming into the fight with 2 straight victories. However, Gatto (6-0-2) is coming in with much less experience and a lot more to prove.

Both women will be looking to make an emphatic statement with their UFC starts.

A fan-friendly match-up between Bantamweights Ryan Benoit and Tyson Nam is also slated for the prelims. Charles Rosa vs Kevin Aguilar at lightweight is a bout that has been in the making since last year.

However, the fight card has seen some criticism from fans because of a lack of star power on the card. But since the MMA is the only major North American sport to return, having regular fight cards will help satiate their hunger.
