Anderson Silva will always remain one of the greatest in the history of the sport. However, the present generation may not concur as ‘The Spider’ has gone on an unfortunate run since his last successful title defense in 2012.
Silva has won just one fight since then, which came over Derek Brunson. He lost to Chris Weidman, suffered a horrific leg break, and most recently lost to Israel Adesanya.
Now, as per Brett Okamoto, ‘The Spider’ will return in two months. Here, he will fight fellow middleweight Uriah Hall in what will be his second-last contractual bout.

The Hall matchup is something that has been part of Silva’s schedule in the past. However, it fell through in 2016 after the Brazilian fell sick in the buildup.
‘The Spider’ is 45-years-old and is not as slick as he was when he reigned as champion. With age, he started getting slower and finally left the rankings earlier this year.
Dana White said that the upcoming fight will be his last dance in the UFC. At the Dana White Contender Series press conference, the UFC President said, “He will fight again. I met with his managers the other day. This will be his last fight.”

It’s telling that White calls Silva’s next fight his last. At 45, time is running out and retirement is looming large for the Brazilian. However, it is doubtful that ‘The Spider’ will see ‘Prime Time’ as the super fight he says the UFC owes him as per his contract.
Dana White says Anderson Silva can retire the way he wants
Despite saying it is Silva’s last fight, White left the door open for the middleweight legend to retire on his terms. He said, “I think he’s going to retire. That’s not our business, that’s up to him. That’s up to him. Let him do this the way he wants to do it.”

Silva may want the super-fight, which got teased when Conor McGregor and Anthony Pettis put their names forward. He could use the Uriah Hall fight to put in a good showing, claim a dominant victory, and set up his swansong with a blockbuster call out.

Meanwhile, ‘Prime Time’ will not want to be a stepping stone to Silva’s graceful bow from the promotion. Instead, he will look to make it three wins in a row and try to move up from his position as rankings gatekeeper.

Hall is ninth in the UFC rankings. He is considered being the targeted fight from contenders who wish to break into the top 10.
