Valentina Shevchenko is arguably one of the most talented athletes in the world. Besides fighting, she possesses a wide range of skills. Unfortunately for her, it gave birth to many conspiracy theories. Former UFC welterweight Ben Askren is one among the many who claims that the UFC women’s flyweight champion is a spy.

Shevchenko is one of a kind athlete. Not many women can match up to her skill level inside the cage. She is a versatile striker with dangerous counter-striking abilities. With not many holes in her game, ‘Bullet’ can fight anywhere the fight goes. Her performances never cease to amaze the fans.

While an average fan might know her because of her abilities inside the octagon, the hardcore fans are well aware of her other talents. Shevchenko can speak multiple languages and also turns out to be a weapons expert. Being a fan of James Bond just adds fuel to the fire.

Ben Askren still believes that Valentina Shevchenko is a spy

Shevchenko had to pull out of her scheduled bout against Joanne Calderwood at UFC 251 due to a leg injury. However, Ben Askren claims that Shevchenko had other obligations. ‘Funky’ thinks that Shevchenko faked an injury to fulfill her duties as a spy.

“She got pulled into a more important mission. So, she had to move off the UFC 251 card. I think that’s a giveaway that whoever she works for, they called her into a more important mission.”

“And said, ‘Listen, defending the UFC title is not your most important task, we are your most important task. You will move that fight, you will fake a leg injury and come do spy work.’ ” Askren told Dave Schmulenson.

Despite a global pandemic and everything being shut down, Askren is convinced that the spies are still active. Unsurprisingly, this is not the first time ‘Funky’ made such comments. Prior to UFC 246, he said:

“She speaks multiple languages, she’s a weapons expert, she flies planes, come on man, shes a Russian asset, isn’t she?”

To which Shevchenko responded by saying, “I am not a spy.”
