Sean O’Malley suffered a nasty injury during his fight against ‘Chito’ Vera. Sean rolled his ankle during the first few minutes of the fight and was in a lot of pain throughout the match.
Vera took control immediately after the injury and noticed the pain Sean was in. ‘Chito’ applied lots of pressure and followed him on the mat, landing a series of shots.
Mike Dean stopped the fight early, mainly because of Sean O’Malley’s nasty injury and the series of blows landed by Vera. ’Suga’ was distraught after the fight and had to be stretchered out of the octagon

Sean O’Malley suffers the first loss of his professional career
This is O’Malley’s first professional loss and has certainly halted the hype around him. Sean was the favorite heading into the fight, and rightly so. ‘Suga’ had strung together a series of impressive wins and defeated experienced fighters such as Jose Quinonez and Eddie Wineland.
Sean O’Malley’s injury looked like a very serious one at first. However, sources close to the fighter revealed that he doesn’t have any fractures. Also, they’re waiting for MRI scans to assess any tears and ligament damage.

“X-ray on his ankle/lower leg came back OK. No fractures but MRI is needed (once the swelling goes down) to look for ligament & tendon tears. They will scan the knee too. Can’t have an MRI until swelling subsided.” Said Ariel Helwani on Twitter.
Sean O’Malley has competed regularly this year and was hoping to break into the rankings with a win over Chito Vera. However, his progress has been halted with this injury.

Sean O’Malley can only hope that this injury isn’t as serious as it seems. ‘Suga’ will look to recover quickly and get back to winning ways and continue the ‘Suga’ show.
