Veteran MMA referee Marc Goddard took to Twitter and touched upon a UFC moment that was “truly unforgettable”. Goddard was interacting with a Twitter user when he revealed the moment that stood out to him from a viewing experience. What’s more, the aforementioned fight was the true litmus test for “The Notorious” when it came to his star-status. UFC President Dana White and the UFC brass recognized McGregor’s ability to command a crowd and aptly promoted him.
Today, he sits as arguably one of the biggest athletic personalities in the world, not just in the sport of MMA. Not to mention, he recently ranked 53 on Forbes’ highest-earning celebrity list, beating out Anthony Joshua and Deontay Wilder.

UFC Fight Night Dublin: Conor McGregor vs Diego Brandao
The fight was booked as the main event but was initially supposed to see Featherweight Cole Miller in Brandao’s place. The change of opponents did little in the way of driving down fans’ excitement or ticket sales for the event. Moreover, the card featured several standout fighters such as fellow John Kavanagh pupil Gunnar Nelson and Ilir Latifi.
The main event fight itself delivered in a massive way as Conor McGregor completely shut down Brandao. He earned a stellar first-round TKO victory just over four minutes into the round. Additionally, Conor snagged the “Performance of the Night” bonus in what would become a pattern for the Irishman.

From this point onwards, McGregor’s star power was undeniable as he had an entire nation rallying behind him. Furthermore, his popularity was not overshadowed by the skills he possessed when the cage door slammed shut.
