The former UFC Welterweight champion, Tyron Woodley has revealed that he is looking to move up weight classes. Woodley, gunning for a shot at the middleweight title, has been calling Israel Adesanya out for a fight.

The middleweight champion has only seen victories throughout his MMA career. Adesanya is one of the most technical and lethally accurate fighters in the division. So much so, that even the Cuban powerhouse, Yoel Romero could not force him off his throne.

Narrowly escaping Romero’s wrath early this year at UFC 248 with a unanimous decision, The Last Stylebender is flying high. However, the fans branded their battle as “one of the most boring title fights ever in UFC history”.

Tyron Woodley, on the other hand, has not stepped into the octagon since he lost his welterweight title to Kamaru Usman. Usman ended Woodley’s three-year-long reign as top dog in the welterweight division after he overthrew Woodley.

Tyron Woodley Confirms His Intentions to Scale Up

In a recent interview with TMZ Sports, Woodley has opened up about his future. Woodley is very clear about his interest in moving up to the middleweight division and taking on the reigning champion.

“My answer is going to be yes. Whether Israel is f***ing sitting next to me. It’s going to be yes whether Dana asks me or a f***ing person from around the corner.

Because if you want to be one of the best fighters on Earth, you have to fight the best. And many fighters have bumped up, dropped down weight classes to prove they’re the baddest men alive,” says Woodley as he tries to explain why he wants to move up to the middleweight division.

Woodley claims that Adesanya has taken Woodley’s intentions to heart. Even though The Chosen One has only showered Adesanta with praises.

“I think he took it personal. He’s really sensitive. That means there’s a little b***h in the blood and now I want to test it out,” said Woodley while talking about Adesanya.

When it comes to taking on Israel Adesanya, Woodley has already thought of a strategy. Adesanya is an excellent striker, however, that is all he’s good at. Woodley feels he can bag a win if he can take Adesanya to the ground.

“Israel quit being a little b*tch, quit being whiny. If you ever want to do it, you know how to get in touch with me. I ain’t hard to find,” says Woodley as he leaves a bold message for the reigning UFC middleweight champion.

Woodley Wants To Conquer His Division First

It is highly unlikely for people to take Woodley’s attempt at the middleweight title seriously until he can reclaim his title. If Woodley wants to be looked at as the real deal, he needs to take on Kamaru Usman with the intention of dethroning him.

And the 38-year-old fighter is well aware of this fact. Therefore he has made it very clear that he intends to sweep over the welterweight division before moving up to middleweight.

“I want to get my belt back first. I said I want to wipe out the division, so no other whining weight can come back and say that I didn’t clean out the division before I bumped up,” explains Woodley regarding his future in the welterweight division.
